Frequently asked questions

  1. Is there a manual?

    Yes: here it is

  2. What can I do with Glinkr?

The example gallery gives some examples of applications we are reasonably sure make sense such as mapping a domain of knowledge or a debate, graphically representing a site map, organising and sharing on the Web specialised bookmarks, recommending interesting contents in a site or event, etc. In the end, only through your usage will one know in which areas Glinkr brings a true added value.

  3. I try to insert a map in a blog entry, and it does not show up in preview mode

Your blog platform must be using i-frames to present the preview. Glinkr map are also i-frames and don't show up in another i-frame. Try publishing your entry and checking that the map appears in normal view mode.

  4. My map becomes too big

You can do maps of maps by inserting in a map box a link to a more detailed map. Glinkr recognises that a map box contains a link to another map and gives access to it through a special icon. See an example

  5. I can't truly export my map to work on it with other tools

That's right and that's bad. A clean XML export of maps is highest priority on our roadmap. Meanwhile we have made sure that when a map is made public under a license that authorizes derivatives, any registered user can duplicate it and edit the duplicated map.

  6. What can I do if I find a bug?

Please report it here giving as much precision as possible on the context of usage and whether the is easy to reproduce (happens everytime you do something)
